How to prepare a website for Google, Yandex, and AI search

July 13, 2026

Visibility in traditional and AI search begins with technical accessibility, correct indexing, useful content, performance, and deliberate crawler configuration.

How to prepare a website for Google, Yandex, and AI search

Search engines are gradually evolving from lists of links into systems that analyse multiple sources and generate a complete answer for the user. Yet the foundation of search visibility has not changed: a website must be technically accessible, understandable, fast, and genuinely useful.

Indexing must be checked first. Public pages should not be blocked accidentally in robots.txt or through noindex. The website needs a correct sitemap.xml, canonical URLs, a clear URL structure, and internal linking. Multilingual pages should use separate addresses and correct language relationships so that the search engine understands which version to show each user.

Content should answer specific client questions and include first-hand experience, examples, comparisons, and practical recommendations. Simply copying generic text creates no value. Pages should have clear headings, images, a current date, author information, and structured data wherever it is genuinely appropriate.

A mobile version, loading speed, security, the absence of technical errors, and ease of interaction are important for Google and Yandex. The website should be connected to Google Search Console and Yandex Webmaster, while indexing, queries, visits, and problematic pages should be reviewed regularly.

To make content eligible to appear in ChatGPT search results, access for OAI-SearchBot must be allowed. A separate decision can be made about whether GPTBot may use the website’s content to help improve models. These settings should be configured deliberately and must not accidentally block important public pages.
